Meet the Employees at Scanvaegt Systems

Haris Sadagic
Job Title: Quality Inspector / Tester
Employed at Scanvaegt Systems: November 2020
Haris Sadagic
When hospitals on Zealand need to be confident that their personal scales are weighing accurately, they call Haris Sadagic.
Haris is one of our skilled calibration technicians who perform self-inspections and calibrations of the scales used by hospitals to weigh patients—crucial for accurately dosing medication and providing the appropriate treatment based on the individual patient’s weight.
There are a great number of scales that need to be checked at hospitals across Zealand. Haris explains, “At Hvidovre Hospital alone, there are 180 personal scales and perhaps 50 baby scales, while Amager Hospital has about 100 scales. They are not always easy to locate, so sometimes I have to undertake quite an extensive search. But we always manage to complete all the self-inspection tasks.”
During a self-inspection, Haris conducts a series of tests on the scale, weighing up and down the scale. This involves placing many weight pieces on the scale. Haris brings approved calibration weights totaling 200 kg—and often uses all of them to perform a self-inspection on just one scale. So, Haris doesn’t need to go to the gym in his free time; “I get my exercise walking the long hospital corridors and by lifting the weights, so I’ve actually gotten into good shape from my work as a calibration technician,” he says with a twinkle in his eye.
In addition to assisting hospitals, Haris also helps other companies with scale self-inspections, including Haribo, Nestlé, and PostNord in Kastrup, where he tests 50 scales—all traceably calibrated according to approved procedures.
For Haris, a good day at work means completing all planned tasks and leaving a satisfied customer. He enjoys meeting new clients on the job, even though he often has to explain what he does: “When I arrive with all my calibration weights, people are often curious—but once I’ve explained my work, they understand.”
He concludes with a smile: “I enjoy my job as a calibration technician at Scanvaegt, where I experience great flexibility and can organize my own workday. We are a large team of technicians who support each other.”
Michael Krone
In the summer, you can always hear when Michael Krone arrives at Scanvaegt — the sound of his finely tuned Mazda MX-5 says it all. Besides tuning his Mazda, Michael also ensures our products are finely tuned for our customers. He is one of our skilled Preparation Technicians, responsible for preparing and checking equipment for labeling, metal detection, and X-ray inspection from brands such as Espera, Honeywell, Digi, and Loma, as well as Scanvaegt’s own scales and weighing equipment.
August 1, 1982, marked Michael’s first working day at Scanvaegt! We look forward to celebrating his 40th anniversary this year. Since starting as a young service technician in our Esbjerg branch, Michael has held several responsibilities. He continued his career at Scanvaegt in Aarhus, working in the repair department for circuit boards, providing technical support and training for both customers and technicians, and managing technical responsibilities for products in the retail sector.
For Michael, a good day at work is when he can dispatch the finished product to the customer. “It feels great to complete and deliver an order, no matter the size. It is important to me that everything is in order and that we maintain high quality every time. That’s probably why the preparation work suits me so well,” he smiles.
After nearly 40 years at Scanvaegt, Michael still enjoys coming to work. He says, “Scanvaegt and I just fit well together. Throughout the years, I’ve had ‘freedom under responsibility’ and also significant influence on my daily tasks. Good colleagues mean a lot to job satisfaction — luckily, I’m surrounded by great people, some of whom I’ve known for 30 years. They know where to find someone who remembers the old products and is happy to share knowledge. Conversely, they’re always ready to lend a hand if needed. And the fact that they can take a joke and some banter is important, even during a busy day.”
Having worked for so many years, Michael has many memorable and amusing experiences. He recalls, “I was actually once ‘kidnapped’ by a customer… I had only been employed for a couple of months and was repairing a scale. However, due to missing information from the customer, I couldn’t get the scale to work again. The customer was unhappy about that, so he locked me in a shed with a phone book and a landline, telling me I wouldn’t be let out until I found someone else who could fix the scale! Fortunately, my then-manager came and rescued me from the shed the same day,” Michael finishes with a big laugh.

Tobias Lundfald
Job Title: Embedded Software Developer
Employed at Scanvaegt Systems: October 2012
Tobias Lundfald
Tobias Lundfald is an Embedded Software Developer in Scanvaegt’s R&D software team, where he has been working since October 2012 on the design, development, and implementation of our software solutions.
Tobias began his career in the software department for our weighbridge solutions, where he contributed to the design of a large application using high-level programming languages. From there, he moved to our other software department to assist in completing the menu system for one of Scanvaegt’s weight indicators.
Since then, he has been part of the team designing new checkweighers and dynamic weighing machines—both software and hardware. For Tobias, it has been exciting to be involved in the development of complete solutions.
Tobias explains: “Having direct influence on decisions and finding solutions together with the R&D team is one of the best parts of working at Scanvaegt. The flat organizational structure and informal tone, combined with close teamwork with other departments such as mechanical development, support, and production, make my job very varied, which I find stimulating.”
Tobias’ role covers a broad range of tasks—from development involving specification design and implementation, to maintenance including troubleshooting and updating with requested features, as well as task management.
Designing embedded software to control dynamic weighing systems can present certain challenges because the weighing process must be precise, fast, reliable, and timely.
Tobias explains: “The software must coordinate the weighing of products moving over the conveyor while filtering out noise from the conveyor belts, motors, etc. Additionally, the software manages algorithms to determine the allocation of the product after weighing and directs the product to the container or another conveyor.”
Analyzing complex problems, finding the best solutions, and designing software that makes a difference for customers is what Tobias is passionate about. He says: “When, after analyzing, excluding, and testing things, you finally get everything to fall into place during a development phase, or you find the source of a bug that has been troubling us for a long time… that’s just really great.”
Laila Winther
Scanvaegt Labels is the in-house label printing division of the Scanvaegt Group, producing high-quality labels for customers in the retail sector, the food industry, and other industries. At the printing facility in Odense, our Production Manager, Laila Winther, ensures that everything runs smoothly and that our customers receive their labels on time.
Laila is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including order intake, pricing calculations for our customers, production planning, and ordering materials for manufacturing.
She began her career at Scanvaegt in 1998—initially in an administrative role—but gradually took on more and more responsibilities related to label production. Seventeen years ago, in 2004, she made the leap to Production Manager and has never looked back. “No two days are the same, and that’s what makes the job varied and enjoyable,” says Laila.
She values the freedom with responsibility that comes with her role. As she explains: “It’s great not to have a manager constantly looking over my shoulder and checking my work. At Scanvaegt, we trust one another and know that everyone is doing their very best.”
Most of the labels produced in Denmark are destined for the retail sector, whereas in other countries, the majority are used by customers in the food industry. Scanvaegt Labels produces many millions of labels each year, and Laila thrives on staying in close contact with so many different customers—especially since a single email can completely reshape the day. She explains: “Some mornings, when we review new orders, there may be one that requires us to reorganize the entire day’s schedule. But that’s perfectly fine with me—I enjoy the challenge and take pride in supplying our customers with the right labels to help them present their products in the best possible way.”

Ronni Jensen
Job Title: Service Engineer
Employed at Scanvaegt Systems: 2001
Ronni Jensen
Ronni Jensen is one of our highly skilled service technicians, with nearly 20 years of experience installing and maintaining our solutions for the food industry. He joined the ScanCare Service Team in 2001 and will celebrate his anniversary in November.
Ronni began as a general service technician for our food industry customers but has since developed deep expertise in graders and processing equipment. Today, he is responsible for managing major installation projects for our customers—whether in Norway, Canada, Greenland, or Poland.
In addition, Ronni is also our specialist support technician for inspection equipment, such as metal detectors and X-ray systems.
Ronni is one of those resilient professionals who thrives under pressure: “I’d rather have 10 urgent jobs than sit around waiting for something to do.” He gets a kick out of the technical challenges that often arise during installations and takes pride in solving them one by one—delivering a successful setup to the customer.
Spending 140 days a year “on the road” is demanding, but Ronni enjoys the travel and the challenging projects. Being away on assignments has also brought some exciting experiences—such as commuting 80 kilometers in Canada with only black bears for company, or making an emergency landing in a helicopter in Greenland.
Although Ronni often works independently, he values his skilled colleagues in the service team: “I’ve got some great teammates I can always call to discuss technical issues—even on a Saturday afternoon. They’re always ready to help find the right solution.”
“The best part of my job…? Besides the technical challenges and the highly varied workday, it’s the freedom with responsibility. No one looks over my shoulder to check my work—as long as I get the job done,” says Ronni with a smile.

Thomas Mikkelsen
Job Title: Service Engineer
Employed at Scanvaegt Systems: 1988
Thomas Mikkelsen
Thomas is a Service Technician for industrial companies in the southern region of Denmark. He has been with Scanvaegt for 33 years, having originally worked as a technician for both the retail and industrial sectors. Today, he assists all of Scanvaegt’s industrial customers—handling everything from minor issues to major technical challenges.
Thomas' responsibilities include maintaining customers’ production equipment to prevent costly downtime. He also responds to urgent repair calls, ensuring that production can be restarted as quickly as possible. Additionally, he is responsible for training operators in the use of Scanvaegt equipment, helping them get the most out of their machines.
Thomas enjoys busy days with plenty of action: “I like it when things are a bit hectic, when there’s a bit of pressure. But when you’ve been here for 33 years, you don’t stress much anymore,” he says with a smile.
“To be a service technician is a calling. You either can do it—or you can’t,” says Thomas. For him, customer interaction is the most important part of the job. When he’s onsite, his goal is simple: to leave with the customer satisfied and confident in their equipment.
What Thomas enjoys most about working at Scanvaegt is the variety. “We never know what tomorrow will bring. A whole day can change in three seconds—and I’ve often found myself suddenly needing to be at the airport, heading off to help a customer with an urgent technical issue far from where I was.”
Lars Dahl Sørensen
Lars has been part of Scanvaegt Systems since 1990. He began his career as a technical supporter and has since progressed to his current role as Project Manager for the industrial sector.
Lars is the person who—together with great colleagues—ensures that all new solutions function flawlessly. The project team is responsible for making new, untested Scanvaegt concepts work exactly as they should.
Lars describes his work like this: “No two days are the same. Agreements, assessments, and decisions are made both internally and externally, and then a project timeline is created in close collaboration with the customer. Through this process, we ensure that everything is delivered on time and works properly once installed.”
What Lars values most is ensuring that customers never feel limited in their product ambitions—and that Scanvaegt delivers the best possible solutions that make the most sense.
Lars has had many great days at Scanvaegt:
“Every single day over the last 31 years has been one of the best,” he says with a smile. He enjoys the unpredictability of his work; even though his day may begin with a clear plan, unexpected tasks often arise that need to be solved on the spot.

Mikael Færch Thomsen
Job Title: Team Lead, Weighbridge Software Development
Employed at Scanvaegt Systems: Since May 2012
Mikael Færch Thomsen
Mikael is the Team Lead in the Software Department responsible for the development of ScanX.NET – a modern, intuitive, and scalable IT system for the registration and management of data from weighbridges.
Mikael's role is divided into two main areas. The first is the Team Lead function, which involves managing a team of software developers and determining task priorities. This also includes participating in product development meetings with the Sales department, where the product roadmap for the coming years is defined. The development of ScanX.NET is highly market-driven, with input from salespeople, technicians, and customers playing a key role in shaping the future roadmap.
It is also Mikael’s responsibility to ensure that bug fixes and enhancement requests are implemented, which is managed through Jira.
The second part of Mikael’s role involves hands-on coding. Mikael states: "I simply love coding – it’s a huge source of motivation for me to create things and make them work. Writing code has been a constant part of my life for the past 30 years."
It is therefore important to Mikael to retain this aspect of the job – and fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities for that.
Mikael enjoys having both dimensions of software development as part of his role. He says: "It’s exciting to gain a broader understanding of the market and deeper insight into the customer’s operations, while also being involved in deciding the direction our software development should take."
Mikael’s day typically begins with a short morning meeting with the department, where project progress is reviewed, responsibilities are assigned, and any new insights from customers or the market are shared with the team. Mikael comments: "It’s a great way to start the day, and it works really well that everyone in the department is aligned on the current status of our tasks."
Brian Dahl
Brian works as an Application Specialist in the Development Department, where his responsibilities include preparing requirement specifications for new products in collaboration with the Sales and Development teams, performing quality control and testing, verifying hardware and software compatibility, and providing support to both Sales and Development.
Brian is also responsible for support related to Scanvaegt’s in-house developed automatic weighing products.
Brian began his career at Scanvaegt Systems in 2002 as a field service technician based in the Holstebro department. After 10 years, he transitioned to the Support Department at the headquarters, where he spent several years as Support Manager, providing technical assistance to numerous customers across Denmark as well as Scanvaegt’s subsidiaries in Sweden, Norway, Germany, and Poland.
Brian continues to be surprised by how different the markets are, despite their geographic proximity – for example, Sweden is significantly more automated in food process production.
A role like Brian’s requires flexibility and adaptability. He thrives in a dynamic work environment where no two days are alike, and where the daily agenda can change unexpectedly. Brian is highly motivated by solving technical challenges for customers – even when that occasionally means working long hours.
He explains: “As support staff, we are fully aware that every minute of downtime represents added costs for the customer. That’s why it’s extremely satisfying to resolve issues quickly – and sometimes even help the customer optimize a workflow in the process. The direct customer interaction and the sense of partnership that comes from solving technical problems together is also very rewarding. Then it’s not just about the machines – it’s also about the human relationships that make a difference.”
Brian finds the constant innovation he observes at customer sites fascinating – particularly their continuous efforts to automate processes. His insights into these trends are a valuable contribution when drafting requirement specifications for new products in his role as Application Specialist.
Reflecting on his job at Scanvaegt, Brian says: “It’s great to work in a company that offers good opportunities for personal development. As long as you’re ready to seize the opportunities that come your way, the organization is willing to let employees take on new areas of responsibility.”
