Effective Environmental Solutions

Effective solutions deliver benefits—both for the company and for the environment.

It’s about resources—and about managing them correctly. With Scanvaegt Systems’ proprietary solutions, it is possible to handle and streamline a range of tasks—particularly in connection with recycling and waste sorting—and generate significant benefits, both economically and environmentally.

Scanvaegt Systems: Experienced and Innovative Solutions Provider in Weighing, Registration, Reporting, and Control. Scanvaegt Systems is among the industry’s most experienced and innovative suppliers of solutions for weighing, registration, reporting, and control. Their customers include both private and public enterprises within the environmental and energy sectors, recycling and energy industries, construction sector, agriculture, as well as incineration and sorting facilities, among others. Founded in 1932 by Knud Grundtvig, the successful Danish company remains family-owned by the Grundtvig family to this day. It employs more than 220 staff members across offices in five countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland, and Germany.

Initially, Scanvaegt Systems primarily supplied scales and other weighing solutions—mainly for the retail sector—but today their offerings include hardware, software, and services for all industries in Denmark. However, it is the weighbridge systems that form the foundation for Scanvaegt Systems’ environmental sector solutions, explains Lennart Svenstrup, Market Manager at Scanvaegt Systems:

“We have an extensive weighbridge program that includes full concrete weighbridges, steel weighbridges, and portable weighbridges. Although these may appear impressive, they are, in reality, the least interesting part. After all, they are just scales. What truly matters is everything around them—that’s what’s exciting and can make a decisive difference for our customers.”

A common feature of all Scanvaegt Systems’ solutions is their scalability and adaptability to virtually any industry and purpose. Beyond the scale itself, the solutions can incorporate terminals, barrier systems and traffic control, surveillance equipment, as well as license plate recognition and load inspection. This offers a unique opportunity to scale from standalone units to more complex systems.

Intuitive Solutions and Excellent Service

Regardless of whether the solution is small or large, the starting point is always the same, explains Lennart Svenstrup:

“We always begin with the weigh stations and the drivers who use our weighbridges. It is extremely important for us to develop and deliver solutions that are intuitive and easy to use, and we receive great praise for this from our customers.”

While this approach makes perfect sense, Scanvaegt Systems is the only company in the market that operates this way. This distinctiveness also applies to their service:

“Our customers are primarily B2B clients for whom operational reliability is crucial. Even a short production halt impacts both profitability and competitiveness. Therefore, we always have more than 70 skilled technicians on the road, ready to assist whenever and wherever needed.”

New Software for Construction Case Management

Service and maintenance of existing solutions are one thing. Another is adapting or developing new ones to comply with rules and regulations. In connection with the new legislation on construction case management from 2020, Scanvaegt has developed brand-new software that helps ensure correct sorting, weighing, and especially registration of construction waste delivered to recycling facilities.

“The goal of the legislation is to ensure that an even larger portion of delivered construction materials is recycled rather than being sent to incineration as before. Hence, even tighter control of weighing, sorting, and especially registration of the weighed materials is required—and that’s where we can assist,” says Lennart.

For example, consider a truck carrying mixed construction materials; these must be sorted into the correct fractions. This means concrete, wood, bricks, asphalt, gypsum, iron, insulation, etc., must be separated. They are then weighed, and information is sent to the municipality about the quantities of each fraction. According to Lennart, this solution provides a complete overview of the delivered materials, which can significantly impact profitability:

“Collecting this data is extremely valuable. The better and more precise the data we collect, the cleaner the fractions we achieve and the more we can recycle—benefiting both our customers’ earnings and the environment. After all, these are important resources we must protect.”

Great Agility for the Sake of Customers

The development of software in response to the new construction case management requirements is a prime example of how Scanvaegt Systems operates.

“As a company, it is vital that we stay up to date. We must be agile—even when things move fast,” Lennart admits.

This is possible thanks to a large software department that continuously updates and adjusts existing solutions, as well as develops entirely new ones when needed—all in close dialogue with customers.

“Only in this way can we continue delivering the best solutions—solutions that not only comply with legislation but are also user-friendly, efficient, and make a difference by creating value for the company,” concludes Lennart Svenstrup.
