New ScanPortal Software

The new software increases workflow efficiency and profitability.

Scanvaegt Systems introduces new software that provides significant advantages for weighbridge weighing and intake inspection tasks.

The improvements mean that sectors such as environmental services, recycling industries, raw materials industries, and recycling centers can now avoid handwritten notes and labor-intensive workflows, instead gaining flexibility, speed, and precision in their daily routines. Saved time translates directly into profitability and the freeing up of resources.

Scanvaegt now presents a new solution under the ScanPortal platform, which digitizes processes and streamlines workflows within the customer segment handling weighbridges and intake inspection. The software is called ScanMobile.

“We have experienced over recent years that our customers report difficulties in finding qualified labor, while competitive pressures continuously impose new demands on handling, oversight, and documentation. These messages have been the driving force behind the development of our new software,” says Sales Manager Ole Levring.

ScanMobile operates on and communicates via the cloud-based ScanPortal platform, which also hosts three other software systems: Delivery Inspection for intake control, ScanClassifier for sorting materials for recycling, and Storage Map for online mapping of outdoor storage sites.

These are scalable software solutions designed to communicate with each other and handle data registrations from, among others, weighbridges—where the initial data is generated—weight terminals, traffic control systems, surveillance equipment, and the customer’s own software systems.

Eliminating Time-Consuming Manual Tasks

Ole Levring provides some examples of how ScanMobile can streamline workflows for companies within the environmental sector, recycling industry, raw materials industry, and recycling centers.

The first example comes from the plastics recycling industry, where the Delivery Inspection and ScanMobile software systems interact.

“When delivering, the hauler registers the delivered fractions in ScanMobile using data from the weighbridge. The site operator has access to all these registrations and can monitor the weighing process via ScanMobile login, as well as prepare intake inspections and documentation. In terms of time saved, this provides significant benefits for both the customer and the company,” says Ole Levring.

The second example concerns the hauler’s weighing of scrap metal.

“In many places, after weighing on a weighbridge, the site operator fills out a handwritten note related to sorting with information on weight and metal fractions, then later submits the note to the office. Here, the data is manually entered into the system and a case is created,” explains Ole Levring, continuing:

“With our ScanMobile system, the site operator can register the weighing and create a customer case directly using a mobile phone or handheld tablet. As an alternative to terminal weighing, the hauler can also register it themselves. The registration can be used as documentation and also shows the hauler’s arrival and departure times.”

The site operator can then perform sorting in the ScanClassifier system, ensuring all data regarding quantities of fractions and any deductions are digitally registered, saving time and eliminating manual paperwork.

Ole Levring emphasizes that basic data for invoicing is automatically generated during weighing, significantly reducing the risk of data entry errors throughout the workflow.

Further Time Savings with Locked Tare Weight

A third example comes from a stevedoring company also using ScanMobile, where the tare weight is locked.

“When the tare weight is locked, the hauler does not need to weigh the empty truck after every load, allowing them to bypass the weighbridge and save several hours daily on weighing that previously required site operator involvement. The hauler can now handle the process of weighing the truck’s empty weight themselves. This also results in substantial time savings for the stevedoring company,” Ole Levring points out.

Savings at Soil Storage Facilities

ScanMobile can also be used when relocating soil temporarily stored at a soil depot or a large site together with other delivered fractions—this could also include waste material destined for landfill.

“For example, if multiple soil samples must be taken, the costs are automatically transferred to the customer case, where previously the customer had to monitor these expenses themselves. If 100 tons of soil are removed from the soil depot, the software keeps track of the exact quantities and ensures continuous control over history, full traceability, and the precise location of each fraction pile on the site,” Ole Levring emphasizes.

Weighing, registration, and editing can easily be done in ScanMobile on a smartphone or tablet, providing great mobility on-site. Accurate data is key to the customer’s successful business.

“Documentation and rapid case execution lead to quick invoicing, and that is exactly what our customers demand,” says Ole Levring.
